Findlay Creek Schools: A Parent's Guide to Every Option

Three elementary schools are located inside Findlay Creek:

• Vimy Ridge Public School (OCDSB), JK to Grade 8, 4180 Kelly Farm Drive
• Mino Mikan Elementary School (OCDSB), JK to Grade 6, 820 Miikana Road
• St. Veronica School (Ottawa Catholic School Board), Kindergarten to Grade 6, 4140 Kelly Farm Drive

There is no high school inside the community. Secondary students attend schools in neighbouring Riverside South, and French-language students attend schools a short drive away. Details for each are below.

Findlay Creek has two English public elementary schools, and both offer Early French Immersion.

Vimy Ridge Public School opened in September 2017 at Kelly Farm Drive and Findlay Creek Drive. It runs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 with English and Early French Immersion programs.

Mino Mikan Elementary School opened in September 2024 at the corner of Kelly Farm Drive and Miikana Road, with about 460 students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. It offers English with Core French and Early French Immersion. The name means "the good path" in Algonquin.

For high school, Riverside South Secondary School (OCDSB), at Spratt Road and Earl Armstrong Road, opened in September 2025 and serves Findlay Creek. It opened with Grades 7 to 10 and adds a grade each year until it is a full Grade 7 to 12 school in September 2027. Before that, Findlay Creek students were sent to Ridgemont High School on Alta Vista Drive. Because the new school also takes Grades 7 and 8, confirm with the board which school your address feeds into for those years.

Catholic families have an elementary school in the community and a well-regarded high school one community over.

St. Veronica School opened in September 2024 at Kelly Farm Drive and Bradwell Way, serving Kindergarten to Grade 6. St. Thomas More School on Blohm Drive is another Ottawa Catholic elementary school serving the wider area.

St. Francis Xavier High School on Spratt Road in Riverside South is the Catholic secondary school for the area, serving Grades 7 to 12. Fraser Institute ratings change every year, so look up the current one at compareschoolrankings.org rather than relying on an older figure.

There are two different things people mean by "French school," and Findlay Creek handles them differently.

French Immersion is offered inside the community. Both Vimy Ridge and Mino Mikan run Early French Immersion through the English public board.

French-language schools, for families who qualify for French first-language education, are nearby rather than in the neighbourhood:

• École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Bernadette, Sixth Street (French Catholic)

French-language secondary schools serving the area include Pierre-de-Blois, Franco-Cité, and Pierre-Savard. For preschool, Leitrim Montessori is on Bank Street.

Two schools opened in the same month, and school boundaries were redrawn. Mino Mikan and St. Veronica both welcomed their first students in September 2024. A year later, in September 2025, Riverside South Secondary School opened and became the public high school for Findlay Creek.

That matters for buyers in two ways. First, anything written about Findlay Creek schools before 2025 is out of date, including older listings and neighbourhood guides. Second, when Mino Mikan opened, the public board revised the attendance boundary for Vimy Ridge, so two homes a few streets apart can now feed into different schools.

If a particular school is the reason you are buying a particular house, check the address before you make an offer, not after.

Use the school board's own locator tool, and then call the school to confirm.

1. Look up the exact street address in the OCDSB school locator or the Ottawa Catholic School Board school locator.
2. Check the program, not just the school. English and French Immersion can have different boundaries.
3. Call the school office and ask whether any boundary changes are planned.
4. For a new build, ask the board directly. Streets that do not exist yet are not always in the locator.
